Commitment, Responsibilities, and Anxiety: Insights from Chris Evans

Responsibilities can cause you to be more contemplative about your to do lists. If you’re experiencing anxiety because of your responsibilities and worrying about rejections and bad treatments you’ve experienced before, continue reading to learn tips and from the multi-talented celebrity Chris Evans.

Responsibilities and Anxiety

Pressing things that matter to you and concerns that are related to your responsibilities can make you feel anxious. When it already sinks into you that you’re not playing games anymore, but trying to seriously build something, you might feel pressurized. If you’re auditioning for work to grow career-wise, you might even worry that it may not work out. When you have these kind of thoughts, anxiety or panic attacks may emerge.

Rejections and Trying to Provide Satisfactory Performance

It’s normal to experience dozens of rejections when you’re trying or starting on something. Most of the time, multiple and repeated rejections, plus your desire to do better could put too much pressure on you hence could cause you to develop anxiety. That’s why you may find your confidence level to fluctuate on some days. When you feel confident, centered, present, and ready, you perform well. But when you’re less confident, you feel shaky when you step into a room.

Overcoming Anxiety and Desensitization

On days you feel intimidated because you doubt yourself when you remember rejections or overwhelmed because of your responsibilities, you may keep in mind what Chris Evans’ said in his Becoming series interview. The A Starting Point co-founder stated, “Maybe the thing that you’re most scared of is exactly the thing that you should do and push yourself into.” When that makes sense to you, you’ll be bolder to pursue more challenging projects.

Chris himself mentioned his reflections about overcoming anxiety. One reality we can relate to from the interview is the agitation we may have when we choose to trudge on a challenging yet fulfilling journey. Chris was referring to his experience when he shared the statements written in the next lines. We paraphrased it to make it relatable to most of us. He said that pursuing what you fear may start as a bumpy acclimation or nerve-wracking for the first couple of weeks. You might even doubt that you made the right decision. But when you look back, you might realize that you might regret it if you didn’t pursue it.

Ergo, when you feel anxious about something, talk to a counselor and see what they have to say. Then, think about what’s really good for you and keep that in mind so you can use it as a motivation to pursue.
